I am desperate for us to get cracking with sorting out our kitchen but the boyf informed me this morning as we were leaving our hospital appointment (baby 2 due in 3 weeks) that getting the kitchen done next week is a bit of mad idea. I’m gutted as I am in serious nesting overdrive but I have a stack of other projects lined up for my dad next week so I shall have to get over it!
In the meantime, I have just stumbled across this brilliant post on one of my favourite read’s Apartment Therapy, which has several inspirational shots for open shelving which they got from House Beautiful. This is exactly what we’re doing in our kitchen and the picture I have selected, reflects my taste for colourful accessorising of the shelves with key pieces. Note – I have been warned about my sudden penchant for buying up kitchen storage on ebay… I also have plans to do a snatch and grab on my mum’s Alessi kettle with the bird whistle by Michael Graves which is just sitting there in her kitchen cupboard waiting for me to give it a new home.
As always, Ikea comes to the rescue for budget shelving although we re investigating other options – suggestions welcome!
