The Illustrated Quick Cook: Easy Entertaining, After-Work Recipes, Cheap EatsWhilst I was in a heaving Anthropologie on Regent Street this past Saturday, amongst the covetable buys that I shall have to sneak into the house soon, I spotted this chunky cookbook, The Illustrated Quick Cook: Easy Entertaining, After-Work Recipes, Cheap Eats, by Heather Whinney, a home economist and food stylist who has been the cooking school manager for the Cordon Vert Cookery School and food editor of Vegetarian Magazine amongst her roles and is focused on simple home cooking.

I was drawn to the chunky book full of inspiration for cooking yummy food that’s not going to tax you time wise. I’d lie and tell you that I manage to work for myself and spend half the day churning out four course meals and baked goods, but the reality is that I’m time poor with good intentions.

Featuring recipes for after work, entertaining, ‘cheap eats’, and tips to help save time, plus ideas for recipe variations, menu planners, cheat tips, and recipe chooser galleries, I’m planning to use it to compliment my other cookbooks and broaden my horizons…at speed. I can’t wait for my Amazon package to arrive… Oddly, for the first time ever, it’s late…

It’s £26 in store at Anthropologie and Amazon seem to have sold out since yesterday where I got it for around £18, however they also have Cook Express which has 700 quick recipes and seems to be the same book with different cover.

The book is….fantastic! It’s enormous, the chapters are genius with stuff like 10 things to do with cheese, meals you don’t have to cook, prep time is included and visually stunning!
