Swoonage: Eileen Gray E1027 Side Table

Eileen Gray Side Table

I love Eileen Gray. She’s just too cool. I mean, this modern, functional side table has everything one requires from such an item. It looks great, it’s made from fab materials (highly finished tubular stainless steel (grade 304) frame, tempered glass). It’s easily portable  so can be used in a number of ways. It can be raised or lowered. It’s so perfectly modern. So would you believe it was designed over 80 years ago. Yep. You read that right, 80 years!

And just a little fact attack for you: It is named after the summer house E1027, “Maison en bord de mer”, which Eileen Gray built for herself and for her collaborator, Jean Badovici. The name of the table comes from both of their names: E is for Eileen, 10 for Jean (J is the 10th letter of the alphabet), 2 for B(adovici) and 7 for G(ray). Like that?

Available from BlueSunTree for £79. That’s an absolute bargain for this iconic piece. I want.
