Big Book of Cool Small Spaces

by Claire on September 10, 2010

I need this book. Not just want. Need. I love my little house. But it is just that. Little. With some very awkward spaces and the smallest bathroom in the whole wide world. Seriously. You can sit on my loo, run a bath and wash your hands in the sink all at the same time. Honest.

This book is by Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan, co-founder the awesome Apartment Therapy, claims to help you transform tiny into totally fabulous. I like the sound of that! According to Maxwell, size constraints can actually unlock your design creativity and allow you to focus on what’s essential.

Apartment Therapy’s Big Book of Small, Cool Spaces is brimming with ingenious tips and ideas, such as:

  • Shifting the sense of scale through contrasting colors
  • Adding airiness by using transparent collections
  • Utilising the area under a loft bed for a kitchen and mini-bar
  • Tucking an office with chic vintage doors into an unused bedroom corner

I wonder if there’s much in it about bathrooms……
