I decided to get a desk and table for my two year old daughter (the bambino) because she has drawn all over our dining room table plus it gives her a workspace when I’m using the spareroom/office. I wanted something fun (you know I’m a colour fiend), but I didn’t want to spend the earth so I decided to go with Ikea’s Gulliver table (£18.99) and Italian designers Magis’ Alma chairs (£25 each from Nubie), which I’ve been a fan of for ages.
Part of their Me Too Collection for children, the devil is in the detail as the branches on the back of the chair which form part of the structure have been made into branches that have little birds on them. They’re made from fibregass-reinforced polypropolene and the four colours shown represent the seasons.
Of course she’s already scribbled on the table so I know I was right not to go nuts on a fancy desk, but the combo of the white table with the orange and green chairs looks really good. The table was a doddle to put up and the chairs are really robust as a friend of ours who is six foot something and not the lightest sat on it for ages!
