JosephJoseph Nest 8 ™Now this is what I call a space saving! The Nest by JosephJoseph comprises of mixing bowls, measuring spoons, a sieve, strainer and juicer. The unique design of the range allows the individual elements of each set to be stacked together, thereby occupying the absolute minimum amount of space. Great at £35.

It also comes with a free magnetic measuring spoon – the magnets within the handle make it easy to attach to a fridge or any metal surface. The spoon normally costs £3.50.

And while you’re browsing JosephJoseph also check out their other kitchen tools – some brilliant space saving / decluttering tools can be found.

Gillian Blease Retro Trays for Jenny Duff

by Natalie on February 8, 2010

Gillian Blease Retro Oranges Tray by Jenny Duff gillian blease quince tray

I don’t think I quite realised how much I liked orange until I looked around the house and saw a number of things sprinkled around the house – like my ‘Take’ table lamp by Kartell. So of course I felt instantly drawn to these retro delights designed by cool British illustrator Gillian Blease and produced by Jenny Duff. Combining melamine with a cork backing and either a vintage style orange pattern or a juicy looking quince, they’re £27.95 each at Hunkydory Home and 28cm in diameter.

Vivienne Riddoch Felt Designs

Ginger and midnight blue bowl

Ginger and mink all-felt necklace

Whilst browsing through Folksy, this ginger and midnight blue bowl jumped out at me and I can imagine myself storing some of my little ‘trinkets’ in it although it’s just perfect as a little ornament. I love the marble effect and of course, being a sucker for orange (already mentioned orange trays today!), I was bound to be a fan.
Vivienne Riddoch hand makes her own felt, often recycling items, and the bowl, necklace and her other pieces are mostly from merino wool.
Aside from the bowl, which is almost 13 cm at it’s widest point, there’s necklaces (loving ginger and mink), and brooches. The bowls are £12 each, necklaces £10-£16, and brooches £9 each.

Bargain Photo Hooks

Photo Hooks

I came across these and was a little shocked. They cost £1. Yep, just £1. I kid you not. They’re on sale over at A Place for Everything. So what’s the catch I hear you cry? Well, postage starts at £5.95 so for the quirky little set pictured it’s going to set you back £8.95.

The little picture frame takes a passport size photo, so you could have one for each of the family, or for the pets or even one for each day of the week…

Louise Christ: Jewellery Hangers

by Claire on February 5, 2010

Louise Christ Jewellery Hangers

Now I know I write on these pages ‘I want’ a lot … but I REALLY want these.  They’re elegant, simple and functional.

Danish design company Menu’s Louise Christ has designed this very pleasing, strong and sculptural solution to store jewellery – just hang your jewellery on the wall! The shapes are organic and inspired by the nature surrounding us. The jewellery hangers are different and can be combined by you to create a design. One of them has a hollowing , so you can use it as a mini-vase…

They are 12 cm at the longest part and 9 cm at the shortest. They are hung with hidden fittings and reach out 4 cm from the wall.

You can buy them from Panik design for £56.

New Rob Ryan Greeting Cards

by Natalie on February 4, 2010

Rob Ryan Card Rob Ryan CardRob Ryan Greeting Card Rob Ryan Card

My heart soared and sang a little when I saw the latest papercut delights by the genius that is Rob Ryan for Roger la Borde. I’ve given a couple of his other cards to friends (very special ones!) and they’ve been blown away by their fabulousness and I’ve been sulking about letting them go ;-)

The images are deliciously romantic with bittersweet poetry and the new colourways home in on the trend for sorbet shades. At £2.35 each from my favourite greeting cards shop, Papergrain, these are a steal and to be fair, if you really don’t want to let them go, you could always frame them for some wonderfully cheap artwork. Or, snap up one of his screenprints. Oh and you can get tea towels too.

Type Trumps 2

by Natalie on February 4, 2010

type trumps 2 type trumps 2

I must admit that the whole Top Trumps ‘fad’ went right over my head as a kid as I got bored of it veeeeery quickly! However, I know quite a few typography geeks that would love to be gifted with Type Trumps 2 designed by Rick Banks. A follow up to its predecessor Type Trumps 1, it has 30 gamecards showing various classic typefaces and each has been assigned a numerical value. Players then battle it out Top Trumps style and can win and lose cards and..er..well…if you’re a Top Trumps fan you’ll know what to do.

Of course you could always use them to create your own custom artwork. £9.99 for the pack. They’re sold out at The Design Museum (they’re awaiting a delivery) but you can get them direct from Face37 where you can also get Type Trumps 1. Dare I say it, being February and all that jazz, but they also make cool Valentine’s gifts for the font fiend in your life.
